I was only twelve years old at the time of this tragedy and living in the Socialist Republic of Romania with my family, when the news brought many tears on the faces of those I knew followed by whispered echoes of fear. I understood something bad was coming within a matter of days brought on by the winds. Precautions were taken right away, everyone according to their best knowledge, to diminish the side-effects. Despite our efforts within months I began feeling the results of the Chernobyl tragedy. But mostly I heard them in the weekly sobs of every mournful crowd slowly dragging themselves behind a bit up truck transporting a new coffin. My teeth, just like everyone else’s began rotting, hair began falling and we all prayed away any form of cancer (cancer was a new concept to the population) and heart attacks. Life somehow moved on and us along with it, until death stopped at our doors refusing to leave without a victim. The cancer found in my brother’s body was so new they sent samples to France for testing. To this day we still don’t know the specifics, nor do I care to. I would much rather have death leave us untouched by its grievence. I’m sure there’s someone else out there knowing exactly what I’m talking about for they too had to deal with the consequences of Chernobyl, like my friend Natasha and Nelly and Angel and Leo and… the list is long.
Well, today 30 years later, many things have changed and we all fight to live and live to love for it’s a miracle we’re still around:) Thank God for that. I wish you a great day.

Aveam numai doisprezece ani la momentul acestei tragedii și traiam în Republica Socialistă România cu familia mea, când vestea a adus multe lacrimi pe fețele celor cunoscuti, urmata de ecouri șoptite in frică. Am înțeles ceva rău vine adusa de vuietele vântului. Măsuri de precauție au fost luate imediat, toată lumea în conformitate cu ce stiiau, pentru a diminua efectele radiatiilor. In ciuda eforturilor noastre în câteva luni am început să simt rezultatele tragediei de la Cernobîl. Dar mai ales le-am auzit în suspinele săptămânală a fiecărei mulțimi jelind încet pe strazi în spatele unui camion care transporta un nou sicriu. Dintii mei, ca la restul din jur au început sa se infecteze, pina sou umplut the carie, părul a început sa cada mai des și toti ne rugam sa fim paziti de la orice formă de cancer (cancerul la vremea aia era un concept nou pentru populație) și atacurile de cord. Viata intr-un fel a inaintat și noi împreună cu ea, până cind, ani de zile mai tirziu, iintr-o zi moartea sa oprit si la ușile noastre refuzind să plece fără o victimă. Cancerul gasit in corpul fratelui meu a fost atât de nou ca a fost trimis în Franța pentru testare. Până în in ziua de azi nu cunostem specificul, dar nici nu mă interesează. Daca ar fi sa aleg as fi sfatuit moartea sa ne lase in pace. Sunt sigura că cineva stie exact despre ce vorbesc, ca la rindul lor si ei au avut de a face cu consecințele de la Cernobâl.
Ei bine, astăzi 30 de ani mai târziu, multe lucruri s-au schimbat și noi toți luptăm pentru a trăi și de a trăi pentru a iubi pentru că e un miracol că suntem încă în viata:) Multumesc lui Dumnezeu pentru asta. Va doresc o zi buna.
